My therapist did an exercise with me (hypnosis, basically) where I carried my 6-year-old self to somewhere beautiful (a beach near the house I live now), scrubbed her clean of all the fear-induced tar that covered her, and then used rainbow light to fill her with all the things she’d need to be happy and strong. We flew above the beach together, where the herons and the eagles and the kingfishers fly.
