My teachers back in my childhood and my parents were also the same type as your dad, kinda. Mistakes are bad. We’re not to make it at any cost! It should be avoided like plague! I wish someone would tell me different. That it’s okay to make mistakes. Then I wouldn’t have to spent most of my adolescence re-learning that mistakes are okay as long as we learn from it. Mistakes are okay as long as we try to do something to fix it.

I used to have mini panic attacks every time I made mistakes or encounter a little problem when I first started solo traveling. My body was reacting, bracing itself for the consequences of my mistakes as I have already conditioned over the years. I later realized that mistakes are actually not that bad.
