Getting rid of evil isn’t as simple as killing all the evil people in the world. How would we even know who’s evil? How would we measure evil? How would we define it? And who gets to make those measurements, and that definition? How would we know they’re right? Who could we trust, to make such important decisions, for the entire human race? And if we got it wrong, wouldn’t that make us evil? What if evil is just an idea? How do you kill an idea? Few people would dispute that Adolf Hitler’s ideas were evil… but those ideas didn’t die with Hitler. They’ve recently been resurrected by Donald Trump (although Trumpists will hate me for saying so). And Trump does have his supporters, which highlights the central problem: evil will always be attractive to some people… that’s why it may be impossible to stamp out.
