“Who wears the pants in the relationship?” That question has bothered me for the longest time. I mean look at this Google search result for the phrase:

Note the “especially of a woman” in the bracket, and the example sentence: “Brian may seem domineering, but it’s Lisa that really wears the pants in that relationship.” Excuse me?

So when men do it it’s “manly” and when women do it it’s “domineering”. What the heck. And it was updated 25th January of this year.

No. Hell no.

It’s a year of redefining strong woman.

Kicking Ass in Skirt and High Heels

The idea had been to combine fashion and sport. A collaboration — a fitness trainer and a talented designer.

It morphed into something else for me. It woke something up.

“What’s wrong with wearing the skirt in the relationship?” was the first thought that popped into my mind when I laid eyes on the photos.

Sweethearts, we can domineer in skirts, dresses and high heels.

This is our time. As Ann Litts had powerfully pointed out in her piece Backward & In High Heels:

We are Legend. We have cut a wide swath in the Patriarchy — and we did it backward and in high heels.

Be warned — we are not nearly done yet.

— we are not bloody done yet.

We have come a long way but we are far from done.

We will be kicking ass some more. In our skirts and high heels.

Thank you for being an inspiration, Ann Litts. You light a fire in me.
